Movie Podcast Weekly Ep. 400: Celebrating 400 Episodes - Citizen Vigilante (2026), Supergirl (2026), The Invite (2026), Seven Snipers (2026), Young Washington (2026)

This monumental episode is dedicated to all the long-suffering listeners of MOVIE PODCAST WEEKLY! Yes, believe it or not, “The Cracker Jack Prize of Movie Podcasts” has somehow reached Episode 400. Jason Pyles, Kombat Karl “The Mad Irishman” Huddleston, Geek Cast Ryan Elliott, and “A Guy Named Andy” reunite to celebrate 14 years of MPW — or, more precisely, 400 episodes recorded, 377 episodes released, and 23 mysterious episodes still sitting “in the can,” as of yet, unreleased

The Four Horses’ Asses of the Apocalypse reflect upon MPW’s origins, changing host roster, most memorable guests, dubious podcast awards, favorite episodes, dedicated listeners, lost releases, colorful history, and approximately 1,200 Feature Reviews. We also hear congratulatory messages from long-time listeners “Max” and Cody Clark, remember actor Sam Neill, debate whether soccer would be better with wider goals, revisit five legendary occasions when hosts fell asleep and snored on the podcast, and hear about Jason witnessing a historic Pittsburgh Pirates performance at PNC Park.

Naturally, we also bring you Mini Reviews of What We’ve Been Watching Lately, followed by Feature Reviews of Citizen Vigilante (2026), Supergirl (2026), The Invite (2026), Seven Snipers (2026), and Young Washington (2026). The Supergirl review was recorded “in the field” with two special guests: Jason’s son, Davy (aka Spawn of the Dead) and Jason’s former film professor, Dr. Rick Moody — newly dubbed “Grandfather of the Dead”! So, join us as we celebrate the friendships, films, running jokes, listener comments, unpredictable tangents, and affectionate chaos that have kept this ridiculous movie podcast staggering forward for 400 episodes, er, or thereabouts.

Movie Podcast Weekly Ep. 385: Skyscraper Live (2026), Mercy (2026), Clika (2026)

Movie Podcast Weekly Ep. 385: Skyscraper Live (2026), Mercy (2026), Clika (2026)

The Four Horses’ Asses of the Apocalypse — Jason Pyles, Kombat Karl “The Mad Irishman” Huddleston, Ryan Elliott, and A Guy Named Andy — are back with another episode of MOVIE PODCAST WEEKLY. This week we bring you Feature Reviews of Skyscraper Live (2026), Mercy (2026), and Clika (2026), along with our Mini Reviews of What We’ve Been Watching Lately.

In Episode 385, the gang debates whether Netflix is intentionally making movies for people who spend more time staring at their phones than the screen, reacts to the newly announced Oscar nominations, and somehow turns a discussion about movie-watching into an existential crisis about modern attention spans. We also spend a surprising amount of time talking about James Bond, Stranger Things, Neil Diamond, and whether the state motto of West Virginia should officially be, “It’s Still the ’80s.”

You’ll also hear Jason gush over Song Sung Blue (2025), Ryan defend Daniel Craig as the One True Bond, and Andy explain why Alex Honnold climbing Taipei 101 was simultaneously one of the most incredible athletic achievements ever filmed and, somehow, not that big of a deal. Plus, Karl shares his thoughts on Train Dreams (2026), the gang discusses the dangers of free-solo climbing, and Andy once again volunteers his services as Jason’s unofficial dating consultant.

Other things we wondered that you might wonder while listening to this episode: Will Netflix eventually create movies specifically designed to be half-watched while doom-scrolling? Is Alex Honnold basically the Michael Jordan of climbing? Did Neil Diamond’s “America” get left out of Song Sung Blue for political reasons (or to avoid politics altogether)? Is Mercy one of the dumbest Ai thrillers ever made — or are audiences just more forgiving than Jason? Think about it. … Just think about it.
