Movie Podcast Weekly Ep. 222: Hidden Figures (2017) and Fences (2016)

Episode 222

Welcome back to Movie Podcast Weekly, where we sometimes describe movies horribly… Before we tell you about Episode 222, be sure you haven’t missed our previous release, our MPW 2017 Preview. In this show, we bring you Feature Reviews of Hidden Figures (2017) and Fences (2016). We also discuss unsavory topics, such as determining how much mucous is too much mucous during an acting performance (even if it’s a great one)? And we also abruptly interrupt any movie reviewing on this show to bring you updates from the Clemson versus Alabama game. Priorities, everybody… Priorities. We hope you’ll join us!

If you’re new to our show… Movie Podcast Weekly typically features four hosts — Jason, Andy, Karl and Geek Cast Ry — along with frequent guests. We give you our verdicts on at least one new movie release from the current year that’s currently playing in theaters, as well as several mini reviews of whatever we’ve been watching lately. New episodes release every single week! Continue reading

Movie Podcast Weekly Ep. 221: The Best Damn 2017 Movie Preview on the Internet

Episode 221

Happy 2017! We’re usually pretty humble on Movie Podcast Weekly, but this nearly four-hour episode has to be The Best Damn 2017 Movie Preview on the Internet. That’s right! In Episode 221, Jason and Ryan begin with the first Friday in January and discuss just about every known release, week by week, for 2017. We started recording this episode on January 2, 2017, and it ran over into January 3. We can’t get too arrogant, though, because this episode also represents a first-time failure on MPW… It is the first time in 221 episodes that we fail to bring you at least one Feature Review (review of a new movie that’s playing in theaters).

But not to worry: We waste your time (and ours) with other dumb stuff, such as movie news and mini reviews. Ryan also confesses that he finally saw “The Walk” (2015), and he reveals his verdict here. Oh, and Ryan and Jason also debate the comparative merits of the Hulk wearing armor, versus no armor … as well as the merits of squirrels wearing armor, versus no armor. It’s nuts! Join us!
