Way back in 2005, I saw The Aristocrats in a jam-packed conference room at Park City’s Yarrow Hotel during the Sundance Film Festival. I don’t remember very much about it. I could “pull a Ligairi” and quote myself, but I’d have to go to the library and look at old microfilms, since a lot of the Sundance coverage from that year didn’t ever make it to the newspaper’s website.
Really enjoyed this episode, especially all of the good-natured mockery of Jay’s picks. Sorry, brother, I think that’s just what you get when you bring The Corpse of Anna Fritz to a gunfight. GeekCast Ry’s quip about a “German horse slavery” movie was especially choice. (And reminds me that we’re still waiting for the debut of Horpse Podcast Weekly.)
I really, really hope that “Where the movie was great, so we gave it a 4” is an official slogan.
Can we please not start referring to that as “Pulling a Ligairi”?
Sorry Josh but it’s official. “Pulling a Ligairi” is now the term I will always use.
My hands are tied, Wolfman. Andrew just made it official. 🙂
In Josh’s defense, I actually admired that he cited the reference properly… Many people (like me) who commit copyright infringement do so because they simply believe they can “steal” something they had previously said or written. That is not the case. By law, you should still reference your earlier work.
So, if anything, “pulling a Ligairi” is to be admired and respected, because Josh is merely observing Copyright Law of the United States…
Besides, I think Josh completely made up for it later in the show when he joked about quoting himself again. ha ha

I think Jay strikes a good middle ground here. We can call it “pulling a Ligairi,” but anyone who does it should wear it as a badge of honor and not be teased or (very gently) mocked.
