Believe it or not, this is Episode 399 of Movie Podcast Weekly, and Jason Pyles is joined by The Mad Irishman, Kombat Karl Huddleston and a long-lost Guy Named Andy, who returns just in time to realize this is not Episode 400, after all. Geek Cast Ryan Elliott is still away on walkabout, but Jason, Karl and Andy press forward with listener feedback, Bond talk, discussion of the “Supergirl” backlash, wildfire reports from Utah, television troubleshooting, and the continuing cultural question of whether people still pay attention to movies anymore.
For Feature Reviews, we bring you Pixar’s Toy Story 5 (2026) and the slow, sad, brutal, art-film-adjacent A24 period drama, The Death of Robin Hood (2026). Naturally, we also bring you Mini Reviews of What We’ve Been Watching Lately, including Stranger Things, Obsession, Citadel, Criminal Minds: Evolution, The Agency, Nuremberg, and Redux Redux. Join us!

Hi again from sunny San Antonio! Thanks for your recommendation of Sky King. The only thing I have to add is how well it showed the impact on his mom. Rough.
As for Disclosure Day, I really wanted to love it. The problem with the ending (spoiler ahead) was that, when they finally won to disclose the secrets, the secrets were depressing. The worst was the image of alien bodies in a mass grave, like Holocaust images. Spielberg clearly did that on purpose, but it took the rah out of the hurrah.
Lastly, I just saw Young Washington tonight. Really good, 8.5 out of 10.
Stay cool!
Full credit to the whole gang for hitting Episode 400, whenever it gets here. It’s definitely a little crazy that more episodes have been recorded than have been released. But I, for one, don’t think that diminishes the accomplishment of recording 400 episodes. Three cheers for 400 episodes!
Almost thou persuadest me to to check out THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD, Jay. It does sound super violent and grim for a Robin Hood story, but I guess each generation gets the Robin Hood story it deserves. Or maybe Robin Hood is the hero Sherwood Forest deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
Jay, you need to raise the bar on your questions to determine whether or not Andy has seen a movie. I love the bit, but Andy doesn’t even have to break a sweat to fake his way past your questions.
JAY: Did you see Toy Story 5?
ANDY: Yes.
JAY: Did any journalists ask Tim Allen during promotional interviews about rediscovering his Christian faith?
ANDY: Yes.
JAY: Wow. I guess you really did see the movie.
Also, belated Happy Birthday to Jay! Fun for the podcast to (I’m forecasting here) hit 400 episodes on the same night that Jay turns … 50? Or still only 48 or 49? Whatever the number, I hope it was a great day, my friend.
