  1. The G.I. Joe discussion was fun because Andy (who knew?) and Jay are so passionate about the subject matter. Otherwise, um, that’s a lot of chatter about a 30-year-old cartoon. But it worked! Orto, fellas. And thanks.

Also: I see what you did there, Jay. Well played, sir. Bravo.

    • Also, the discussion of Snow Job reminds me of a line spoken by Colonel Sandurz in Spaceballs that I did not fully grok until many years after seeing the movie for the first time: “It’s Mega Maid! She’s gone from suck to blow!”

Ah, Spaceballs. Great Bill Paxton flick. (May he rest in peace.)

  2. I went to watch Ryan’s recommendation for Rescue Me and realized that I’m going to need more information on that. I’m assuming that It’s from 1992 and starring a bunch of people I don’t recognize, and receiving a 5.3 on IMDB?

When I couldn’t be sure that it was the right film, I went on to watch Jay’s recommendation; Summer of ’84. I think I was sold on this because Jay might’ve called it “fun?”

While it did have some of the “fun” 80’s elements like Stranger Things, There was not that much “fun” about it. No humor. Decidedly horror. I guess I was expecting something different. It focused on a serial killer in the neighborhood (fun), who is targeting teenage boys (not as fun). And a little team of “sleuths” who are trying to bust the killer. (fun) There was also a little romance with a neighbor girl that I thought was – “fun”. Near the end there was a neighborhood festival (not as fun as a halloween party). And a pretty gratuitous murder that was just grosser and more jarring than it needed to be for a movie where all the rest of the killing happened off-screen (not fun).

This was just a little too scary, with the children-in-peril theme to be widely accessible to people who like Horror Lite, and not scary enough for people who really want the rough stuff. 7/10
