Here’s my review for Lowlife, since I don’t have any podcast where I can share it.
This totally messed-up movie that deals with human sex trafficking, organ theft, hard drugs, organized crime and corrupt cops somehow manages to pull a few heartstrings by the end. Lowlife seems to suffer from budget and casting constraints at the beginning—and you’d like to see a story this good have a little more technical polish—but things really pick up by the midpoint and Lowlife wins you over, even as it pushes you away. The inclusion of Ricardo Zarate’s enforcer character (with a luchador mask and legacy to protect) and Jon Oswald’s ex-con character (a non-racist with a full-face swastika tattoo) were highlights for me and leant both laughs and tremendous heart to an otherwise grimy film. Though an inexact and lazy point of comparison, it’s safe to say that fans of early Tarantino films—Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown—will find something to appreciate in Lowlife. Throw a little more time and money at director Ryan Prows and he’ll do something great.

I’m still in the middle of this episode, but I feel as if Andy is incredibly lucky he wasn’t recording in the same room as Mack. Had Andy been, I suspect he’d have a couple of black eyes by the end of the recording. Haha
Instead of coming up with a top 3 for misleading trailers, I’m going to go with one general trailer style.
– Any trailer that shows footage or contains dialogue that isn’t found in the final version. This seems to be a more and more common occurrence and it drives me crazy. Off of the top of my head, the Paranormal Activity films were especially guilty of this. Considering they’re films of just a few big moments the trailer scenes absent from the actual film really stood out.
Listening to this and although I’m sure he is a nice guy… Andy has annoyed me! Even though his spoilers were bleeped during the review of A quiet place. With a little thought and filling in the blanks It’s obvious what he said. All for the sake of a cheap gag. The constant interruptions are bearable (although rude) because Andy is quiet funny. Maybe best to cut a whole segment of him talking out in the editing, rather than bleeping it if he does something similar again (not blaming you Jason). I’ll still go see the movie but unfortunately the movie has been spoiled. Thanks Sandy x
Mack! I love when that guy’s on the show, he’s great! It did seem tough to manage having everyone on this episode — I don’t know, there seemed to be some tension that must of carried over from the talker in the movie theatre — but it was still great checking in with everybody, as always.
