And the award for dumbest movie podcast goes to… Movie Podcast Weekly, of course. Welcome to MPW, where episode release times and numbers don’t seem to matter… For what it’s worth, this is Episode 281, during which we bring you our thoughts on the 90th Academy Awards ceremony, as well as a couple of Feature Reviews of Red Sparrow (2018) and Death Wish (2018). We also talk about William Rowan Jr’s “The Villa,” which you can now watch here! Join us for a moderately offensive but mildly good time.
If you’re new to our show… Movie Podcast Weekly typically features four hosts — Jason, Andy, Karl and Geek Cast Ry — along with frequent guests. We give you our verdicts on at least one new movie release from the current year that’s currently playing in theaters, as well as several mini reviews of whatever we’ve been watching lately. New episodes release every single week!

Just watched The Villa. Awesome cast and pretty darn funny. Loved Karl’s cameo. Ready for episode 2!
90th Academy Awards Ceremony Review – the show was just too long. It wasn’t a great year for movies. The shape of water wasn’t great in my opinion. Ladybird was over rated. Dunkirk at least may end up a classic.
The Oscars is always long. So is the Super Bowl and the Olympics – but Hey. Watcha gonna do?
What we may not have realized at the time (but probably should have) was that Ashley Judd, Salma Hayek and Annabella Sciorra are three of the women who originally accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct.
The “Walk Across the Street to the Theater” was most certainly scripted and tightly planned. It would have been necessary to carefully select and check with stars who would agree to participate. And if you were going to include any women at all (and I mean – you have to, right?) I’m telling you those ladies had to be in on it. The dresses and shoes they wear to the Oscars ain’t made for walkin’ anywhere that’s not accessible by limo and covered in red carpet. You know what I mean?
The Producer; I don’t see the photo of William Rowan Jr. that you promised. Come on man! Do your job.
Also, The Producer; “There’s been some great Willem Dafoe buzz lately.”
How does this direct quote (from you) differ from the “buzz” that I read online before the ceremony? I resent your implications, Sir.
For the record, I think Andy’s firm treatment of the Ham Yummy was an ingenious life hack that showed bravery and resilience.
And lastly; (Ryan, at the Lasic center) “They gave me what I suppose RoboCop tastes like”. Had me laughing so good. Still makes me smile. Thanks Ryan.
Just came from watching Annihilation and have to say it was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen in theaters. If I was at home I would have turned it off. With the NCAA tournament happening I thought about leaving half way through if I wasn’t with my nephew. It was a bold film, but the dialogue, and the little things just got to me where it was very hard to give it any credit. 3/10 don’t waste your time!
