  1. Jay: Musicals are dumb.
Andy: [Patiently explains what a hostile takeover is]
Ryan: [Expounds conspiracy theory about getting gouged by Hulu]
Karl: So are we gonna talk about movies or what?
Jay: Now, as I was saying about musicals …
    Karl: Fievel?

Bravo, fellas. Highly entertaining preshow chitchat this time around. I always enjoy the Stuff We Gotta Get Off Our Chests portion of each MPW episode, but this one was especially good.

I agree with GCR about “Singin’ in the Rain.” It’s a relic of a different era that hasn’t aged well. It happens to feature one of the great individual scenes in cinema, but the movie around that one scene is boring at best and gets weird and irritating the longer it drags on. People have been repeating the critical consensus for decades, but the movie is not deserving of its reputation. There are plenty of black-and-white Golden Age classics that hold up just fine (“Casablanca” comes to mind), but “Singin’ in the Rain” isn’t one of them. Like Nick Nolte in “The Mandalorian,” I have spoken.

I haven’t seen the second half (Vol. 2 & 3) of “Stranger Things” Season 5 yet, but the first half was excellent.
