  1. First, Andy’s right. Cody Clark doesn’t know what he’s talking about. (Actually he was trolling you and you all didn’t have like any response. Too many drinks in the background I guess.)

B, no one had Hundreds of Beavers on their list?

Seriously though this is my favorite podcast because the interplay between you guys is so fun. It’s a great mix of voices and opinions and you guys really seem to like each other. Jay, it’s endearing when you keep asking Andy if he saw it after he tells you he likes something you suggested. I think I like the “unedited” versions better than the edited ones though I can’t remember if the earlier episodes last year and before were much more organized. Is the podcast really dying? Are you losing subscribers?

I hope you keep going and it’s fun for you. It was a treat to get another one so close to the previous ones the last couple months. Thanks for an enjoyable 2 hours today! Now to track down Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person.

    • damn you i wrote this when you were done with the #1s – 8 minutes before the end and Jay revealed tht Cody’s list is a ringer! That’ll teach me NOT to listen to the bitter end before messaging!

Borderlands didn’t get you guys to bite but Madame Web did.

  2. This episode is my 2024 PEOTY, or Podcast Episode of the Year. I know that the episode was recorded and posted in 2025, but I’m going by the year of release of the Top 10 Lists, so that’s why this is a 2024 podcast for me. Jay knows what I’m talking about. (Maybe it will be my PEOTY for 2025 as well, who knows?)

I apologize to Jason for bearing false witness and conflating him with the dearly departed Josh. I’m not sure why it mattered so much, since Jay and I are probably the only people on Earth who have actually read the comment where I defamed him, but false witness is false witness. You are Prince of a Fellow, my friend, and I will think twice (and possibly even check my sources twice) before unleashing snark at you again.

Actually, I’m delighted by Jason’s revenge. It was a masterstroke, and made me chortle repeatedly throughout the episode. I’m a little wounded that none of the others hosts sniffed a rat all the way up until “Madame Web,” but that also bears out the brilliance of Jay’s choices. Well played, sir.

    A couple of other thoughts:

    1) Hearing Andy do an on-the-spot, off-the-cuff vocal rendition of “Popular” is now my favorite Andy moment in the history of MPW. Bravo!

    2) Speaking of Andy, it took all the way until this episode of MPW for me to realize that “Mack” is just Andy doing a slightly different voice. I can’t believe I never figured it out before! The part where Andy recounted texting to “Mack” about “Mack’s” short film was especially brilliant. Sort of like when Tom Hardy played twin brothers in that one movie.

    3) “Mack’s” thumbnail review of “Unfrosted,” as the ninth best film of 2024 is an instant classic: “It’s fine. It’s kind of fun. It’s all right. It’s OK.” Here’s my review of “Mack’s” abbreviated review of “Unfrosted:” SOLID. GOLD. If the whole “existing as a performance art piece by Andy” thing doesn’t work out, then “Mack” definitely has a future in film criticism.

    4) You didn’t push Ryan nearly hard enough, Jay. Now I want to know all of the other movies that he was *actually* remembering while only *thinking* that he was remembering a movie that he saw in 2024.

  3. Always nice when MPW drops an episode into my podcast queue. The Top 10 of the year is always a good time.

I don’t want to start anything here, but I could swear on my life that it was KARL who coined the BMOTY. I got your back, Karl. Don’t let Ryan still your cred.

Here’s my Top 10 for your viewing pleasure. A shout-out to “Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1” Jay! I’m with you. That’s a sweet slice of Western goodness. It might have made it even higher on my list if not for its awful ending (complete with a tacked-on trailer to future chapters). Likewise, the impressive “Alien: Romulus,” stalled at #7 on my list for having the single worst call-back line I”ve ever heard in a movie: “Get away from her…you bitch.” That was so awful. The director should apologize for that, not CGI Ian Holm.

    1. Dune: Part Two
    2. Conclave
    3. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
    4. The Fall Guy
    5. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
    6. Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1
    7. Alien: Romulus
    8. Transformers One
    9. Oddity
    10. Wicked

I’m stoked to check out “One Life’ and “Thelma.”
