An embarrassment of riches! Or maybe just an embarrassment… Another MOVIE PODCAST WEEKLY episode release the very next day! Yesterday we released an episode (from months ago) covering the August and September movies, while today’s new release covers the movies of October, November and December 2024! This is Episode 364, where your hosts — Jason Pyles, Karl Huddleston, Ryan Elliott, and A Guy Named Andy, try to talk about movies again. We hear about Andy’s staph infection that actually hospitalized him. We talk about the TYSON vs. Jake Paul fight. And we talk about a number of entertainments, such as Arcane (2024), Carry-On (2024), Gladiator II (2024), Conclave (2024), Heretic (2024) — and more! This was recorded on December 16, 2024. Be sure to watch for our next episode where you bring you our Top 10 Movies of 2024, which includes our BMOTYs!

Just the discussion of GCR and Jay’s differing reactions to CARRY-ON is worth the price of admission. Unfortunately, now I’m in the same boat as Andy: I have to go watch CARRY-ON myself, so I can have the satisfaction of agreeing with GCR. I kid, Jay, I kid! Although it’s definitely funny mentally comparing CARRY-ON to all of the other 7.5s, 7s, 6.5s and 6s, in the MPylesW canon.
Here’s a totally random pull: In Episode 107 of MPW, Jay gave a 7 to the World War II tank battalion movie FURY (starring Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf), and gave a 6 to Disney’s animated bullfighting adventure movie THE BOOK OF LIFE (starring Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, and Diego Luna). So CARRY-ON is slightly better than THE BOOK OF LIFE, but not quite as good as FURY.
Also, I rejoice that Andy survived his brush with mortality. And now I have to go watch CARRY-ON. I will return and report.
